Your
Energy Want Depden Airfield
We
have also been contacted by an action group from Chedburgh near Bury St
Edmunds who have just found out that Your Energy have plans for a wind
farm on the disused Depden airfield. We will of course be offering them
our support and the benefit of the wealth of experience we have gained
over the last 10 months.
Final
Push Is On
The date for determination of the planning proposal has now been fixed
for Wednesday 6th April. Your Energy have submitted their final document
which does not address a large number of the objections raised and means
that our objections are still as valid and robust as ever. The Highways
Agency and Marshalls Airport/M.O.D. are still opposed (although Your Energy
still have to submit a further document about the radar issues). They
have failed to address the main landscape issue where independent consultants
appointed by SCDC stated that they undervalued the current landscape and
under estimated the impact of the wind farm. Please see Chris Blandford
Report in the library
section of this website.
Your Energy
said nothing about the T.V. signal disruption, potential health problems,
their inflated benefits, the strong public opposition, the lack of consultation
with local residents, the conflict with planning policies and their response
to our objections on noise was weak.
All in all
there was nothing in this final document, which indicates a more professional
approach or will make anybody change their mind. It was a very weak piece
of work. Visit the library
section of the website to see the report of the Institute of Environmental
Management and Assessment on Your Energy's original Environmental Statement.
Mass Walk Saturday -
April 2nd
On April 2nd we will be holding a mass walk along the ridge where the
wind farm is proposed. There will be two groups walking one from Conington
and the other from Boxworth, meeting on the ridge. If you would like to
join the protest walk please meet at The White Swan, Conington or the
Village Hall Boxworth. Choose whichever is most convenient and the walks
will leave at 12:30pm. It is only a short distance over good paths.

We need
as many people as possible to attend to demonstrate the depth of public
opposition to this scheme, so please put the date in your diary and
tell as many of your friends and family as possible.
Planning
Meeting Wednesday -
April 6th
Your Energy's planning application will be determined at a committee
meeting on 6th April at the South Cambridgeshire District Council's
head office in Cambourne. Again the more people who can attend the
better. It is a working day, but if you can be there then please make
the effort for the final time. The Wind Farm application will be the
first item on the agenda at 10:00am. The local media will cover the
meeting so it would be great to have a good turnout.
Letter
Skulduggery
There appears
to be a dirty tricks campaign being put in operation by the supporters
of this wind farm. We have already seen 600 letters deposited en masse
at SCDC offices, which on analysis are 5 standard letters with students
signing them. Hardly the stuff of informed debate! Now we have three
letters from fictitious addresses with similar signature although
different names. One even was address from Church Street in Boxworth,
which does not exist. It seems that local democracy and public opinion
is being subverted and suggests that if the pro campaigners cannot
win by reasoned argument then some will resort to cheating.
