Longstanton votes against proposal, bringing the total number of Parish Councils against the wind farm to 14 - There are now 14 out of 15 parishes who have rejected the proposal, with Childerley expressing 'no recommendation' and only Oakington in favour.

The 14 Parish Councils against the planning application include: Boxworth, Knapwell, Hilton, Fen Drayton, Conington, Elsworth, Dry Drayton, Swavesey, Lolworth, Papworth Everard, Longstanton, Fenstanton, Over and Bar Hill.

Have your say - October 20th marked the end of the Public Consultation Period. However, KEEP WRITING TO THE PLANNERS after this date. They will still take note of your views and as a community we need the maximum number of letters objecting before the Planning Committee meets in January/February 05. Full details on submitting comments are available in the Get Involved section.

Hundreds of objection letters - Thank you to all of you who have written objecting to this proposal. The planners have received hundreds of letters objecting to this intrusive wind farm. We will give you an updated count once the final rush has been filed and counted.

Objections are outnumbering those in favour by at least 10 to 1 and many of those in favour do not live in the area.

A whole host of issues have been communicated to the Planners, who must take note of this overwhelming rejection by local residents.

There are still a number of consultations to be finalised. In particular the Highways Agency have commissioned research by independent consultants, following the out cry about safety on the A14. This will not be completed until mid-November, so it is unlikely that the Planning Department will finalise their report and recommendation to the Planning Committee before December.

This means that the Planning Committee will probably not meet before January/February 2005.

A number of people have asked that the route of the new A14 should be finalised before any decision on the wind farm, so this may delay proceedings further.
