Council Throws Out Wind Farm Application

On April 6th the South Cambridgeshire District Council rejected unanimously the wind farm application from Your Energy.

All 28 members present of the planning committee voted against the scheme and no one could even say anything positive about the scheme. They roundly supported the planners report recommending refusal which listed six main areas for rejection.

It was an overwhelming condemnation of a totally inappropriate application.

The decision reinforced all our arguments we have been broadcasting ever since the application was submitted last August. The issue was never about renewable energy it was about the suitability of the proposed site for such a massive industrial scheme. Thankfully commonsense and reasoned arguments have prevailed over the blatant commercialism of an attempt to find a site which can maximise profit irrespective of the harm it would cause people and the countryside.

Thanks to all our 1550+ members who have supported us during the last 11 months since the Your Energy exhibition. Your help is much appreciated but we must remain vigilant. Although there appears to be no possible logical reason for an appeal, Your Energy have always said they would do so. We would ask them to accept the overwhelming opposition to their scheme from the planners, councillors, statutory bodies, local M.P. and local residents and gracefully say they will not appeal. Local people are already suffering a blight on the sale of houses and the possibility of a wind farm reducing their quality of life causes worry and anxiety.

It is in the power of Your Energy to remove this blight and stress and on behalf of the thousands of people affected we ask them not to appeal this absolutely correct decision.
